Consumer Alert! Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor issued a consumer alert yesterday. Scammers are reaching out to consumers telling them they are part of the new health insurance exchanges.
The scam involves people acting as government representatives (think Navigators) and telling potential consumers that they are "authorized to help people navigate the health insurance exchange created under the ACA and say they need to verify the person’s name, address and Social Security number."
ODI says to avoid becoming a victim people need to protect their personal information AND that government program representatives do not make house calls or solicit by telephone.

So how exactly will Navigators be able to reach out to potential consumers if they can't solicit by phone or go door to door?
