About 3 years ago, we noted some of the dangers of those new-fangled "curly bulbs" (CFLs) that are now mandated for our continued lighting needs:
"In addition to toxic mercury, our Neighbors to the North are becoming increasingly concerned that they may also be giving off "potentially harmful ultraviolet radiation."
Turns out, Canadian authorities may have been prescient:
“When there is something in your house, you don’t perceive any danger, you wouldn’t get that close to an x-ray in a doctor’s office ... compact fluorescent light bulbs emit high levels of ultra violet radiation ... the bulbs emit rays so strong that they can actually burn skin and skin cells."
