Tax time is coming up. Got proof of insurance?
If not, you may be in for a surprise.
If Heather Mizeur gets her way Maryland residents will have to show proof of health insurance when they file their tax return.
The Support the Kids First Act when passed will deny certain tax exemptions to taxpayers if they cannot provide proof of health insurance for their children.
There are an estimated 90,000 children who are eligible for the state's insurance program but are not enrolled,
We see stats like this all the time, but it never gets any press. A high percentage of the 47M uninsured are children, many of whom qualify for existing, taxpayer funded plans.
This is a law we can get behind.
