The days of cheap kidneys in the Philippine's seem to be coming to an end.
Seems the old rules that allowed only 10% of kidney transplants going to foreigners is to be replaced with a total ban.
Before the ban, you could get a kidney for around $2500.
Now if a foreigner wants a kidney, they have new rules.
A new government order opts a new system wherein a foreign patient will be required to pay for the operation of a poor Filipino suffering from end-stage kidney disease
Kind of a two-fer special.
"The new system will provide sustainable livelihood, health insurance and good health care to Filipino kidney donors in order to ensure that they will not be exploited
Seems they have a problem with uninsured in the Philippine's as well and this is a way to address that issue.
Tax a foreigner.
